Suh Yeon Chang is a lawyer with GongGam Human Rights Foundation, the Korean Public Interest Law group, which provides legal support and advice to other non-governmental and non-profit organizations on issues relating to the protection of human rights and the elimination of discrimination.
Certain groups of HRDs in South Korea face serious challenges, notably journalists, trade unionists, or those claiming the right to live in a safe, clean and healthy environment who try to exercise their legitimate right to protest against large-scale development project such as the local residents in Miryang and Jeju Island.
